Who are the KofC Shining Stars
Shining Stars help our Knights of Columbus, Blessed Mother Mary Council 15238 succeed in Fundraisers, Community Activities, and Council support of other Apostolate events when requested.
Qualifications
Not all KofC wives become Shining Stars. Likewise, a KofC wife does not automatically qualify as a Shining Star because she is a member, or important to the operation of another Apostolate. Shining Stars support KofC activities. They can certainly assist other Apostolates, but that does not really help our
Council directly. Our greatest resource, and really the greatest resource of any organization, is the level of effort (manpower) and, just as important, the quality of the manpower to draw on for support to the organization. Our Shining Stars greatly improve the quality of our KofC manpower pool.
Do you want to be a Shining Star?
Choosing to become a Shining Star should not be a casual choice. If nothing else, the individual should understand they are signing up to help our Council. Not to say they will be at every event, but in some way, form, or fashion they will help support the Knights throughout the year. Keep in mind the KofC
supports practically every other Apostolate at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. Shining Stars contribute greatly to this support as well.
Examples of Shining Stars Contributions
Our Shining Stars perform several activities such as Administrative Support (flyers, labeling envelopes, counting money, reconciling sales to tickets, etc.), Cooking, Serving, Cleaning, Manning the Sales Tables, Church office coordination, Off Site set up, Tear Downs, assist in the purchase of supplies & equipment, help shuttle equipment & materials, and basically everything needed to support a KofC event. Shining Stars have been critical to every success we have realized during the current Fraternal year.
Should I track participation hours?
Shining Star contributions are more than just volunteer hours captured to report to Supreme. Shining Star hours do count as volunteer hours, but we also have many Knights & spouses that predominately volunteer with other Apostolates. While those hours are also important, counted, & reported, they usually
do not contribute to KofC fundraising or directly help in performing KofC scheduled activities.
